Hi guys, this exercise lefts me feeling a little ambivalent even though it had many of the components that work really well for me. I concentrated on one of my favorite people, my Grandmother, who had a large role in raising me as my Mom worked. My Mom had a really short fuse and my Grandmother was the peace maker. It also has the sounds of waves and I have always used this technique to relax. My name means woman of the sea and I have always tried to live close to the ocean. This exercise did not make me feel relaxed at all. It actually made me a little restless which I'm sure was not the intended purpose. I will try it at least one more time but I think last week's exercise was better suited for my needs at this time on my journey. A athlete trains his body and his mind on a daily basis so he can perform to the best of his ability. This is also the concept of mental workout. By using practice techniques, we learn how to develop nuisances of our mind that we usually ignore in the Western World. This enables us to go past our accepted limits into new territory on our journey to integral health.
See everyone in class.
Adrienne,
ReplyDeleteAhh now I understand what you meant. Yes, I think that I perfered the mans voice to the lady's for whatever reason. This particular meditation did not greet me the same way as the first yet I was able to stay focused and found that my heart went out to many during these few moments. It is nice to be taking a class that encourages us to relax instead of staying at our computers. It truly enhances our opinions by allowing us to experience it for our selves. My parents were total hippies and we lived in an underground house that was completly self sufficient. My grandpa lived in teepee in our front yard and was a yogi. From this upbringing I have learned that there are many ways to relax. Some like to sit I perfer to lay. Some like oceans I like nature (as far away from people as possible). I guess we each have our own path and honoring our process is the only way to attain enlightenment and inner wholeness. See you on the discussion board!
Adrienne, I understand what you mean. I am also going to try the exercise one more time when I am in a more relaxed state to deterrmine if the results would be different.
